Author Guidelines

Authors wishing to submit manuscripts to Mu'amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah are requested to ensure that their submissions comply with the following requirements before submitting their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system.

Scope of Manuscripts

Mu'amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah welcomes original scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of Islamic Economics and Islamic Economic Law. The journal publishes research related to Islamic finance, Islamic banking, Islamic social finance, halal business, contemporary fiqh al-mu'amalat, Islamic economic policy, Islamic financial dispute resolution, and other topics within the journal's Focus and Scope.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts:

  1. Original Research Articles
  2. Review Articles
  3. Conceptual Papers

All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.

Language

Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Indonesian. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts in English to enhance the international dissemination and visibility of their research.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors should prepare their manuscripts using the official Mu'amalatuna Article Template and ensure that the manuscript complies with the following requirements:

  1. Manuscripts should contain approximately 5,000–8,000 words, including tables, figures, references, and appendices.
  2. The manuscript should be prepared using clear academic language and follow the journal's formatting requirements.
  3. The title should accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.
  4. Abstracts must be provided in English and Indonesian, consisting of 120–250 words, and clearly presenting the research objective, methodology, findings, and implications.
  5. Authors should provide 3–5 keywords, arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons (;).
  6. The manuscript should include the following sections: Introduction, Research Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements (if applicable), References.

References and Citation Style

  1. Manuscripts must contain a minimum of 15 references.
  2. At least 80% of the references should be derived from peer-reviewed journal articles.
  3. At least 60% of the references should be published within the last ten years.
  4. References should primarily consist of recent and relevant scholarly publications.
  5. All citations and references must follow the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition (Author–Date).
  6. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or other compatible applications.

Similarity Check

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software. The maximum acceptable Similarity Index is 25%, excluding references, bibliography, and properly cited quotations. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned for revision or rejected.

Peer Review Process

Process All manuscripts undergo an initial Editorial Review to assess their suitability for publication. Manuscripts that pass this stage are evaluated through a Double Anonymous Peer Review process by at least two independent reviewers. The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers' recommendations and the journal's editorial policies.

Publication Ethics

Authors are expected to comply with the journal's Publication Ethics, including originality, research integrity, ethical research practices, proper citation, and responsible authorship. Manuscripts involving plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or other forms of publication misconduct will not be considered for publication.

Copyright, Licensing, and Open Access

Authors retain the copyright of their published articles while granting the journal a non-exclusive license to publish the work. All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.

Mu'amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah provides immediate and permanent open access to all published articles, allowing readers worldwide to access all published content free of charge.

Repository / Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may deposit permitted versions of their manuscripts in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, and other scholarly repositories in accordance with the journal's Repository / Self-Archiving Policy.

Submission Checklist

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that the following requirements have been fulfilled::

  • The manuscript is an original work, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal or publisher.
  • The manuscript is prepared using the latest official Mu'amalatuna Article Template available on the journal website and complies with the journal's formatting and writing guidelines.
  • The manuscript falls within the journal's Focus and Scope, including Islamic Economics, Islamic Economic Law, Islamic Finance, Islamic Social Finance, Halal Business, and related fields.
  • The manuscript file is submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf).
  • All references have been carefully checked for accuracy and, where available, include DOIs or permanent URLs.
  • References are prepared using the citation style required by the journal and consist primarily of recent scholarly publications.
  • Tables, figures, and illustrations are numbered consecutively, provided with captions, cited in the text, and inserted at their appropriate locations.
  • The manuscript has been proofread for grammar, spelling, and academic writing quality.
  • The manuscript complies with the journal's Publication Ethics, including originality requirements and the absence of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and redundant publication.
  • All authors have approved the submitted version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission to Mu'amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah.
  • Where applicable, the manuscript includes statements regarding Conflict of Interest, Funding, Author Contributions, and Acknowledgements.
  • If the manuscript is submitted to a peer-reviewed section, all identifying information has been removed from the manuscript file and supplementary files to ensure a double-anonymous peer review process.

Manuscripts that do not comply with these Author Guidelines may be returned to the authors for revision prior to the peer review process or declined for further consideration.

Authors who publish with Mu'amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah retain the copyright of their articles. By submitting and publishing their work, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and preserve the article as the original publisher.

Authors may share and reuse their published work in accordance with the journal's Repository / Self-Archiving Policy and the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license, provided that the original publication in Mu'amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah is properly acknowledged.
