Peer Review Process
Mu'amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, fair, transparent, and ethical peer review process. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes two sequential stages of evaluation: Editorial Review and Double Anonymous Peer Review.
Editorial Review
Upon submission, each manuscript is first evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief or the Editorial Board to determine its suitability for further review. This preliminary assessment examines whether the manuscript:
- Falls within the journal's focus and scope.
- Complies with the author guidelines and manuscript formatting requirements.
- Meets publication ethics and research integrity standards.
- Demonstrates sufficient originality and passes plagiarism screening.
- Presents an appropriate level of academic quality for external review.
Manuscripts that do not satisfy these requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision or rejected without external peer review.
Double Anonymous Peer Review
Manuscripts that successfully pass the editorial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area. The journal employs a Double Anonymous Peer Review (Double-Blind) system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain concealed throughout the review process. This approach is intended to ensure impartiality, fairness, and objectivity while minimizing potential bias.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
- Originality and novelty of the research.
- Relevance to the journal's focus and scope.
- Scientific significance and contribution to Islamic Economics and Islamic Economic Law.
- Soundness of the research methodology and data analysis.
- Validity of the findings and conclusions.
- Clarity, organization, and quality of academic writing.
- Adequacy, relevance, and currency of references.
- Compliance with research ethics and publication standards.
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief may issue one of the following editorial decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Resubmit for Review
- Reject
Authors are required to respond comprehensively to all reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into consideration the reviewers' recommendations, the scientific quality of the manuscript, and the journal's editorial policies.
Throughout the review process, all manuscripts and reviewer reports are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and uphold the principles of integrity, objectivity, professionalism, and ethical publishing.
Publication Frequency
Mu’amalatuna: Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah adopts a continuous publication model to ensure timely dissemination of high-quality scholarly work in Islamic economics and Islamic economic law. Under this system, accepted manuscripts are published individually as soon as they complete the editorial and production processes, rather than being delayed until the full issue is assembled.
Each published article is immediately assigned to the current volume and issue and listed in the official Table of Contents. This approach enables faster visibility, citation potential, and academic impact for authors while maintaining rigorous peer-review and editorial standards.
In addition to continuous publication, each volume is formally closed at the end of the designated publication period, ensuring that issues remain well-structured and systematically archived.
The journal is published two times a year (biannual publication), with issues scheduled as follows:
Issue 1: January – June
Issue 2: July – December
This publication frequency reflects the journal’s commitment to consistency, academic quality, and sustainable editorial management while accommodating a continuous flow of accepted manuscripts.
