Abstract

Government programs have an important role in community empowerment. There are several government programs engaged in community empowerment, one of which is the KOTAKU Program. This program is one of the strategic efforts of the Directorate General of Human Settlements in accelerating the handling of slum settlements. This study aims to describe the community empowerment process in the Kotaku Program in Sumber Agung Village, Kemiling Bandar Lampung. This type of research is descriptive qualitative by collecting data obtained from observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Kotaku Program in increasing community empowerment has had a positive impact, this can be seen from the activities of small and medium enterprises (UKM) in the community which are running as well as improving the quality of life and the principles used in its application are in accordance with the principles of sharia economics. such as justice, equity, freedom and security and the absence of interest in providing business capital assistance to the community. It can be concluded that running this community empowerment program is not instantaneous, but it is necessary to monitor and evaluate periodically to ensure the accuracy of quality and activity targets, as well as quality human resources (HR), so that it can help accelerate the handling of slums and improve the economy.
