Peer Review Process

Indonesian Journal of Special Educational Needs (I-JOURSEN) implements a double-blind peer review process to ensure fairness, objectivity, and academic integrity in evaluating submitted manuscripts.

In a double-blind peer review system, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process. Authors do not know the identity of the reviewers, and reviewers do not know the identity of the authors.

Purpose

The double-blind peer review process is applied to:

  • Minimize bias related to authors’ institutional affiliation, nationality, or academic reputation

  • Ensure manuscripts are evaluated solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance

  • Maintain high academic and ethical standards

Process Description

  1. Authors are required to remove all identifying information (names, affiliations, acknowledgments) from the manuscript before submission.

  2. The editorial team conducts an initial screening for scope, format, and similarity.

  3. Manuscripts that pass screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers.

  4. Reviewers provide anonymous, objective, and constructive evaluations.

  5. Editorial decisions are made based on reviewers’ recommendations.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts and review reports are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, share, or use any information from the manuscripts for personal or professional advantage.

Ethical Standards

I-JOURSEN follows international ethical standards for peer review and publication practices as recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Publication Frequency

Indonesian Journal of Special Educational Needs (I-JOURSEN) is published two (2) times a year, in June and December, with a total of 5–10 articles per issue.

I-JOURSEN publishes original research articles, review articles, and case studies in the field of special education and inclusive education. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process before being accepted for publication.

Correction and Retraction

Indonesian Journal of Special Educational Needs (I-JOURSEN) takes its responsibility to maintain the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the scholarly record very seriously. Any changes to articles after publication are only made under specific circumstances, in accordance with best practices in academic publishing and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

Erratum

An Erratum is a statement by the author(s) of the original article describing corrections related to errors or omissions that occurred during the writing or publication process. Any impact of the correction on the conclusions of the article must be clearly stated.

  • The original published article will remain accessible.

  • A formal erratum notice will be published and linked to the corrected article.

  • The erratum will be freely available to all readers.

Retraction

A Retraction is issued when an article is found to contain serious flaws or ethical violations that invalidate its findings. Retractions may occur under the following circumstances:

  • Evidence of unreliable findings due to misconduct or honest error

  • Duplicate publication without proper citation or justification

  • Plagiarism

  • Unethical research practices

To preserve the scholarly record:

  • The retracted article will not be removed from the journal website.

  • A retraction notice explaining the reason and responsibility for the retraction will be published and linked to the original article.

  • Retractions may be initiated by the author(s), editor(s), or publisher.

  • If a retraction is made without unanimous author agreement, this will be clearly stated.

In rare and extreme cases involving legal issues, defamation, or copyright infringement, the Publisher reserves the right to redact or remove the article. Bibliographic information will be retained to ensure the integrity of the academic record.

Publisher’s Note

A Publisher’s Note is issued to inform readers of corrections related to typographical or production errors made by the Publisher that significantly affect article metadata (such as title, author list, or affiliations) or the readability of the article.

  • The original article may be replaced with a corrected version.

  • The correction date will be clearly stated.

  • Publisher’s Notes are freely accessible.

Minor errors that do not affect scientific content or reader comprehension may be corrected at the Publisher’s discretion without issuing a formal notice.

Withdrawal of Manuscript

Authors are not permitted to withdraw submitted or published manuscripts without compelling reasons. Withdrawal wastes valuable editorial and reviewer resources and is considered unethical, particularly if the manuscript has been accepted or published.

If an author requests manuscript withdrawal:

  • The author must submit a formal Article Withdrawal Form signed by all authors or the corresponding author.

  • The reason for withdrawal must be clearly stated.

  • Manuscripts are considered withdrawn only after written confirmation from the editorial office.

Requests for the Article Withdrawal Form and all related inquiries should be directed to: ijoursenjurnal@gmail.com

It is unethical to withdraw a manuscript from I-JOURSEN if the manuscript has been accepted or published in another journal.
