PENERAPAN MODUL LITERASI DASAR KESEHATAN MENTAL REMAJA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The prevalence of mental disorders among adolescents is increasing annually, yet access to professional treatment is not keeping pace. Instead, adolescents frequently turn to informal sources of support, such as family and peers, and some even conceal their struggles due to the fear of public stigma. This underscores the inadequate level of mental health literacy among adolescents and the necessity for interventions to enhance it. This study aimed to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of a basic adolescent mental health literacy module toward high school students at school. Community participatory action research was used as the framework in developing the module. The participants consisted of junior and senior high school students in private schools who voluntarily participated in this study. Convenience sampling was employed in this study. The study design was a one-group pretest-posttest with no controlled group design. Data instruments were developed by researchers for each module. Data analysis was conducted using paired sample t-tests. The results indicate significant differences between pre- and post-test mean scores in physical, emotional (with small sample size), cognitive, and mental health literacy modules. However, there was no significant difference in the social module. It can be concluded these basic mental health literacy modules can be implemented among junior and senior high school students in school setting. Theoretically, this study applied positive mental health literacy concept to improve adolescent’s knowledge regarding promoting mental health. This study also recommended to consider the capacity of participants, duration, the content delivery, as well as the best intervention model to change the knowledge and attitude.
